Our last shoot dates

First let me say how excited I am to be shooting this coming memorial day weekend and I want to thank everyone for their continued support and enthusiasm.

Its been a while since we shot but now that the weather is nice again we can go outside and this weekend is the perfect opportunity to wrap up filming for this project.

Since we last had a shoot I put together a rough cut of the film and showed it to Meghan Scibona and Jason Nunes. Then with their help and the help of a few other friends (Henrique, etc.) we've worked on focusing the story and restructuring parts so that it is all more cohesive and flows better.

I want to give a special thanks to Meghan and Jason who have supported and guided the story and have worked with me on the script over the last few months.

We need a film editor

We've finished a big part of the filming and have a rough cut which we are using to judge the story structure and pacing.

We are very happy with what we see and have some changes planned that will improve the film even more.

So, we now think its time to bring on someone to help with the editing effort and to bring a fresh objective point of view.

Ideally we would like to bring on someone who really enjoys editing and is looking for a way to contribute to a unique feature film.

If you want an opportunity to stretch your wings, try new editing techniques, offer up ideas and try for that balance of traditional and new techniques please talk to us. We want your input and we will listen.

We are going to South By SouthWest SXSW

At least four of us Meghan, Jason, Don and I are going to SxSW this year and I can't wait. I'll be attending the film and the interactive (I am a computer geek after all) conferences. I listened to many of the podcasts from last year and they gave me all kinds of great ideas.

Meghan and Jason are also both speaking. I think Jason even has two panels. Its going to be a blast.

How would you like to turn 2 again?

Did you ever see that commercial with Martin Scorsese where he has picked up some photos and overly critical of his work and then finally calls his nephew and says "Timmy, it's your Uncle Marty. How'd you like to turn 5 again?"?
Birthday Party

I had to fight the urge to keep saying that because it was not really Finn's birthday. He was a little confused but was a real trooper. He and his guest, I forget her name, patiently sat through a bunch of takes while we lit the candle, sang the song and then blew out the candle over and over again.

How’s the movie going?

I get that question a lot. Usually followed by “When can I see it?”. Well, you see, the answers are “Its coming along.” And “I’m not sure.”

Right now, we have finished “principle photography” and I’ve edited together a rough cut. Since it’s a collaborative improv based film it is going to take considerable massaging to make it feel like a cohesive story. We knew that going in so its no big deal. It just takes time that’s all.

I’m starting to show the really rough cut to close friends and advisers, people who have filmmaking experience, to get their ideas, comments and reactions. After we do that a few times we’ll know better what needs to be added, cut, redone, expanded, etc.

Coney Island shoot

Coney Island Cast
So, I've been totally remiss is writing up our shoots. My only defense is that I have been really busy planning stuff and trying desperately to finish scenes before the weather turned really bad. Yes, I know it turned bad a month ago. I've been busy trying to recover from that.

Adventures in production

We had another good day of shooting this past weekend. Thanks to Sarah and Nick and the crew Gina, Steve and Mike. They all did a great job.Sarah and Nick and the back of Gina and Steve's heads.

At last ... our first day of production. Three scenes down. Forty seven left go to.

I'm so happy we had our first day of shooting this last Sunday. Everything went really well. The cast and crew were fantastic. Thank you so much Jennifer, David, Amber and Gina.
